The Lake Chelan-Sawtooth was designated Wilderness in 1984.
The diverse mixture of dense forest, lush meadows, alpine slopes,
geology and the high country motivates visitors to climb from
the lowland trailheads through the gorges and forest. Approximately
194 miles of trails lead into 146,000 acres of the Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness.
