The Buffalo Gap National Grassland is located in southwest South Dakota, and inclues over 591,000 acres of land which borders, and is intermignled with, private, state, Indian reservation and national park lands. The "east half" of the Grassland extends from near Kadoka, SD on the east to the Cheyenne River on the west, north to US highway 14 and south to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. It is administered by they Wall Ranger District Office located in Wall, SD. The "west half" extends from the Cheyenne River on the east to the Wyoming and Nebraska Borders on the west and south respectively. It is administered by the Fall River Ranger District office located in Hot Springs.
